Prepare for a useful service appointment
Bring symptoms, history and clear instructions about the work you want authorized.
A useful service request begins with observations. Note the full reference, symptoms, when they occur and the last known service. Describe crown or complication problems without opening the case. Bring available receipts and tell the provider how you intend to use the watch. A short, consistent record is more useful than a guessed diagnosis copied from a forum.
Ask what the initial assessment includes, whether it has a fee and when a written estimate will be available. Agree how additional work will be authorized. Discuss replacement parts, your preferences about refinishing, any proposed water-resistance test and the service warranty. Ask the provider to distinguish required functional work from optional cosmetic changes before you approve the scope.
Keep photographs of the item’s condition and a record of the accessories handed over. Check that the receipt identifies the watch while keeping full serial numbers out of public posts. If authenticity is also a concern, ask for a separately defined inspection scope; a normal repair quotation does not automatically address provenance or the history of every component.

Follow the instructions for your own reference rather than applying another caliber’s winding count or service assumptions. After collection, retain the work report and ask how any replaced parts or tests are documented.
